Chenette Swanepoel is the "Mother" of MOTHERLODE, a design guerilla collaborative consisting of design activists.

 

The bombing of the Fountain was conceptualized by Chenette Swanepoel and Alastair Findlay to form part of the Cool Capital Biennale Grand Finale. The team from MOTHERLODE was responsible for the planning and execution of the event.

 

The idea was to protest against the thoughtless and inappropriate current installation. The brutalism of stonewalls and iron bars was countered with the use of fabric and paper flowers. MOTHERLODE wanted to reopen the debate about the function of public art. 

 

The entrance to the city of Tswane deserves a considered design solution, representative of its friendly and hospitable people.
